IBWG was formed in 1995 by a group of expatriate businesswomen who wanted to promote and support the capabilities of businesswomen in Abu Dhabi. IBWG is managed by a small committee of volunteers and a part-time coordinator.
Today, IBWG membership is comprised of women members who are proprietors, entrepreneurs, CEO’s, and senior management in companies and organizations in Abu Dhabi. Many women have found that IBWG helps them break in to the local business market by encouraging networking opportunities and promote their respective business interests.
The IBWG program year is offered from September to June. Monthly luncheon meetings are now held the first Tuesday of the month at the Beach Rotana Hotel and Towers in Abu Dhabi. Each event focuses on topical business issues and trends with high profile speakers. IBWG participates in the Annual Abu Dhabi Business Groups Forum held in November.
